- P.S. I learned Morse before I knew there was such a thing as ham radio. I

-
- Hi Red, why can't the same amount of effort be made in one of the other
- amateur modes... like why can't writing an FFT program be substituted for
- copying code? An FFT program can copy code just as well as you or I.
-
- I am happy to report that for my friend with ADD, the code examiners
- allowed him to send instead of receive and he passed his General after
- being a tech for over 20 years.
-
- I use CW more than any other mode. But I cannot understand why that particular
- original (i.e. old, obsolete) mode can be used on all amateur frequencies,
- unlike any other mode, and is half of the requirement for passing the test.
- I believe that proponents of keeping the code requirements are afraid
- they wouldn't be able to pass a more technical exam. How 'bout if we allow
- all prospective hams to substitute a commercial FCC license for the code?
-
- Japan has proven how much the Morse code treaty is worth... zilch. Do you
- refuse to talk to the Japanese because they can't copy Morse code? Then why
- penalize your own fellow Americans? I can dunk a basketball and you can't...
- and that makes you a second-class citizen. Substitute "receive 13 wpm" and
- you will get the idea.
